Landscape Quilts

This is my first landscape quilt and it is still not finished yet. I started this landscape quilt more than a year ago and need to finish it. Part of my problem is that I don't have a lot of room to work on quilts where we live right now. So most of the time I have to set up my machine at the kitchen table. It is real hard to work on projects like this, but I love to do them. I still need to stipple the right section of the quilt - the hillside and fence area. I just have safety pins holding everything together right now.

Here is a closeup of the sky - showing the stippling around the seagulls and clouds.

Here is another one. I found fabric of the lighthouse and seagulls, so I just cut them out and appliqued them on, and stippled around them. The clouds were done using my embroidery machine.

Then the water section, I used tulle and placed it over blue fabric to give it a sheen. Then I embroidered over that. Trying to show ripples in the water. The hills were some green fabric that I cut and shaped into hills for the background below.

  1. This is wonderful. You have really captured the whole feeling of the water ,wind and the hills are great.I guess you can tell I love it.
Not having enough space to work in is frustrating, I know! I need to get back to my landscape quilting. Your quilt has stirred me to get moving. Warmly, Sharon

  2. Thanks for the lovely comment Sharon. I'm sorry I'm late in posting a comment. I wasn't sure how to reply to comments on this blog. Duh! I have been sewing a lot lately, but not doing landscape quilts. Hopefully, I can get back to it, too. It's funny how it is addicting isn't it?
